The procedure for being admitted to any phase of Penryn College is as follows:
Contact is made with Penryn College via the Admissions Secretaries on:
Pre/Primary School (Grade 00 - 7)
Mrs. Leigh Bosman | Tel: 013 7589088 | prepadmis@penryn.co.za
College (Grade 8 - 12)
Mrs. Liesl Scheepers | Tel: 013 7589090 | Email: Email: admin@penryn.co.za
In the College (Grades 8 - 12), an appointment is booked for your child to write an entrance assessment.
In the Preparatory School, scholars are individually assessed from grade 1 - 7.
The assessment is written at the College (and takes about 1 to 2 hours depending on the age of your child). The marking of scripts takes between 3 and 5 days in the College and results for the Preparatory assessment will be available immediately.
On the assessment day you may request a guided tour of the school. Should you be interested in this option, please book this beforehand;
An appointment with the Head of the College or Preparatory School is booked where your child is interviewed and where you are given the opportunity of asking questions about the College;
Depending on the results of the entrance assessment and the interview, and depending on the following criteria, places may then be offered to prospective scholars according to the following process:
Siblings of existing scholars are admitted first;
In the College, scholars of the Preparatory school are admitted second;
Scholars from schools who are members of the Independent Schools Association of South Africa are admitted third, and
Scholars from other schools are admitted fourth;
Should you wish to apply for a bursary, please mention this at the College Head's interview. There are several College bursaries available for potential scholars. Criteria for awarding these are based on financial need;
Should the interview be successful and you wish to take up the position you should contact the Director of Administration and Finance to fill in a debit order form and to discuss general information regarding fees and statements;
There are also a limited number of scholarships available that are awarded to scholars each year. The criteria for these awards are: a high average achieved in the College entrance assessment, all round excellence and a recommendation by the Principal of the scholar's previous school should your child qualify he/she will be invited to write our scholarship exam.
Please understand that only after your deposit has been paid in full can we confirm your child's place at Penryn College. These are to be paid before starting at the College. After the due date for the non refundable deposit the place will be offered to someone else after a phone-call has been made to you to ascertain whether you are still interested in the position.
Please note that should your child be classified as an Immigrant scholar, it is the responsibility of the parent to apply for and obtain a Study Permit.
