Boarding
Boarding is only available to scholars in Grade 8 to 12.

Penryn College boarders stay in a comfortable set of co-educational houses both on and off the campus. On the campus itself there are four co-educational boarding houses (Waterberry, Mahogany, Marula and Acacia) accommodating twelve boys and twelve girls in a family-like setting. These 4 houses accommodate weekly boarders. A fifth house on campus (Kiaat) houses sixteen boys and sixteen girls - all of whom are termly boarders. Off campus there is one smaller boys house (Bushwillow). As is the case in the campus hostels, scholars share a living space in family settings. Each boarding house has directly attached the accommodation of a boarding parent(s), who are expected to be a full part of the daily existence of boarders, and they eat together with the learners as well as establishing close relationships with them. They are the liaison between parents and scholars as well as the proxies of the Head of the College.

Boarders are expected to do supervised prep sessions in the evenings, have set waking and lights-out times, and are limited in terms of what they are allowed to watch on TV in the evenings. Meals in the Dining Hall are outsourced to the professional catering firm FEDICS, and hygiene and quality standards are closely monitored.

Discipline is important in a boarding environment and a clearly defined set of expectations and rules is in force in this regard. A copy of this is to be found in the Disciplinary Policy document in the downloads section. More information on boarding is to be found in the Boarding information document which can also be found in the downloads section.
