At the heart of life at Penryn is the expectation that we strive towards activities and behaviour that follow Christian principle. A Chaplain is seconded from the Methodist Church of South Africa, and is employed to provide guidance and counseling for the Penryn family. All scholars are expected to attend divinity lessons and Christian ceremony twice a week in assemblies and services. Prayer meetings are held regularly at break times and communion classes and visits to neighbouring churches are organised where this is required. Christian camps and activities are high on the agenda and for example the district Chrysallis camp is held bi-annually at the College.
As part of this caring ethos all scholars are part of a comprehensive and effective pastoral support system. This is achieved through a number of structures and concerns itself with the general well being of each individual. Support is offered through the teaching staff through the tutor system (where each scholar is allocated to a year group within a College house. These groups meet three times a week with a view to having general discussion and specific conversations where discipline or other concerns warrant this) and via professional counseling staff, both off and on the campus. The College employs a counselor and a psychologist to this end.
