Council Report Feb 2008
A council meeting was held on Friday, 22nd Feb. The following points of interest should be noted:-
Title deeds for current land are now in schools possession
New boundaries for school grounds still not finalized. Halls pushing for this so that they can get started with Boschrand Heights. Estimate another 3 months
An Alumni dinner is being arranged for past pupils of Penryn.
Facilities and Development committee (FAD) reported that they will be tilling all bathrooms this year. Construction of lockers will start soon.
A new committee, LEAF has been created to look into making the school more environmentally correct
A request from council - if they could place an article into Penryn Matters notifying parents of Council and its function. After which Council will have a regular page on the web - giving an overview of all meetings.

Council Structure
Mr Greg Theron is the Executive Head of Penryn College, and heads the senior and middle phases of the College. He is supported by Mr John Lees, Head of the foundation and senior primary phases and Mrs Phutimile Dumisa, Director of Penreach.
Penryn College is managed at the following macro levels:
The Penryn Trust exists to raise funds for the capital development of the Institution. As owners of the College, the Trust furthermore ensures that the mission of the institution is upheld.
The Penryn Council is a policy making body and meets once a term and controls the day-to-day management of the school in consultation with the Heads and Director of Penreach. This body consists of representatives of the parents, scholars, staff, Trust, Methodist Church and the surrounding community. Sub-Committees of Council meet monthly prior to Council meetings. Sub-committees of the Council are Finance, Standards and Excellence Committee which is in charge of maintaining standards, the Facilities and Development Committee which oversees development and the Human Resources Committee which ensures appropriate labour practice. Each of these committees is chaired by a member of council.
EXCO - comprises the Chairperson of Council, the heads of Council committees, Heads and the Director of Penreach. This body meets monthly and ensures the implementation of policy in consultation with College management.
The Penryn Parents Association has a monthly committee meeting of elected members and organises several social events during the course of the year as well as raising funds for special projects around the school and bursaries. The PPA furthermore is a conduit to Council for parental comment, and is represented on Council.
