Community Service and exchange
As a community governed by Christian principle and the Courtesy Charter (see discipline section), community service is expected of all scholars, and is offered as an activity in the LEAP programme (see Cultural section) as well as after school. This culminates in the entire College doing service of some sort or other for a week at the end of the year. Efforts are staffed via the College's teachers and outside agencies, and times and expectations are published beforehand. Increasingly the role of Penreach is being made real in the lives of the College scholars and efforts are converging in this regard. Commitment to community service is recognised in the College Awards Policy.
A developing aspect of this part of our programme is that we have become regional members of Round Square International. This is a global group of 75 schools that have a very similar ethos to ours and which will enable our scholars and teachers to go on exchange to schools throughout the world. We hope that this will develop in members of the Penryn family a better idea of global cultures and an appreciation of these. A very exciting development indeed and we look forward to the full development of this in the years to come.
