Cultural
Cultural activities at Penryn are multifacetted and are offered to enable Middle Phase scholars to do the following:
Develop all aspects of their characters
Develop intrinsic talents
Challenge themselves in areas untouched by usual school endeavour and
To have fun at school outside of usual activities

The programme is varied, but most importantly is built intra-murally into the College daily timetable through the LEAP programme. This is a compulsory set of about 50 activities offered by teachers and outsiders, and from which Grade 8 and 9 scholars must choose two per year. As with sport participation the LEAP programme is according to guidelines on behaviour and commitment, chief of which would be that we expect scholars to show a development in the skill required and assessed in each activity. Participation and/or excellence in cultural endeavour is recognised in the Penryn Awards Policy (see below). LEAP activities offered during the course of 2007 were:

Outside of the LEAP programme there are also a range of cultural activities that are offered extra-murally and take place after school. Included in this group would be the following:

• Inter-house Plays
• College Production
• Inter-house Debating
• Inter-house Public Speaking
• Eisteddfod participation
• Inter-house quiz
• Choir performances
Scholars wishing to participate in these activities are required to do auditions and need to understand that they will be in competition for these places with scholars in the Senior Phase.
