House Structure
All scholars entering the College become part of a tutor group which serves a communication and pastoral role (see spiritual). These tutor groups are part of a house. There are four houses at Penryn named after medium sized birds of prey, which continues the structure established in the Preparatory School. The houses are Goshawk, Harrier, Kestrel and Kite. Each house is headed by a head of house and consists of 5 tutor groups. Each tutor group is headed by a tutor (a College member of staff) and assisted by an assistant tutor. A table showing the personnel of the house structure is attached in the downloads section.
Houses compete against each other in a number of sporting and cultural contests that enable scholars who are not necessarily in College teams to compete against others thereby spreading the benefits of team sport to scholars who would otherwise not have the opportunity of doing so.
A cup is awarded at the end of each year to the winning house and is keenly contested.
