Events - Celebrating our values!
- Scholar Art Competition
This competition is open to all scholars from grades 1 - 11. The theme is, of course, light house in any medium. Closing date for submitting artwork is 1 July. An art exhibition will be held on 29 July where the winners will be announced.
- School photo Competition
This is your opportunity to capture some of the breathtaking views on campus and stand the chance to win a prize! The competition is open to anyone and the only rule is that the photograph needs to showcase the beauty of the Penryn campus. Submit your photographs to email@example.com by 1 July. Please include your name, surname, contact details and a short description of the photograph specifically stating why you like the part of the campus you captured on film. An art exhibition will be held on 29 July where the winners will be announced.
- Community Service Showcase
This year we have restructured our community service initiatives for all scholars. Grades (Prep) and Houses (College) will select a Penreach target ECD centre or Primary School around which their community service efforts will be planned. Each ECD centre and Primary School that form part of the programme have submitted a wishlist indicating their most critical needs. There is always plenty of enthusiasm among scholars around their interaction with the surrounding community centres and schools and this year, on 15 August, they will be able to share this with parents and friends at the Penryn Penreach Community Service Showcase - don't miss out on this!
- Festival of Lights & Night MTB race
To celebrate the vibrant school life at Penryn, a festival of lights will be held on 19 August (Friday). Bring you glow sticks and lanterns and join in the entertainment from 16h00 to late. Witness and experience the extreme fun of the MTB Nite Rage race on campus!
- Founders Day
The formal Founders Day ceremony will take place on the morning of 20 August. More details regarding the guest speaker for this event will follow shortly.
- Reunions & Alumni
It is all hands on deck to rope in as many past scholars, staff and parents as we can for the 25 year celebrations. Special plans for reunions and get-togethers during the Founders Day week (15 - 20 August) will be made and we encourage any year group to contact Gill Smyth regarding this at firstname.lastname@example.org
There is a Rugby test match being played at Mbombela Stadium on 20 August (kick-off at 17h00) - another great reason to travel down to Penryn for the weekend!
Social Media Campaigns - sharing the #Penryn story
#25Hours : This is a scholar-run campaign to showcase the community service efforts via Instagram and Facebook using #25Hours #Penryn. It is a challenge to all scholars to extend their service hours for the year to 25 in celebration of our Ethos which is centred around reaching all communities.
#PenrynMemories : Over the past 25 years, Penryn has shaped the lives of thousands of men and women. We invite all past scholars, teachers, staff, parents and friends of Penryn to send us their Penryn Memories for inclusion in a digital showcase. Please send photos, musings, memories and messages to Gill Smyth at email@example.com
If you are interested to become involved in the planning of events for the year, please don't hesitate to contact Susanna Oosthuizen at firstname.lastname@example.org.
