OUR GAME-CHANGES | ALUMNI STORIES

The Penryn community never gives up on individuals. I would never know what my full potential would be if it were not for Penryn helping me to identifying who I was. Not only is Penryn a school, but it became my second home away from home because the school does it’s best to accommodate for all regardless of your background.

I am forever grateful for the values that were instilled in me and most of all, for the teachers who have taught me. Penryn is an amazing school that strives to help its pupils be equipped for the big wild world, and, coupled with its amazing teachers, everything is possible. I will cherish Penryn forever.

Penryn was a safe place and a friendly environment where we could have fun with our friends, but also get the necessary work done. Many of my best memories come from having a good time at school and I will keep those with me forever.

CLASS OF 2019

Penryn gave me a home away from home, and that sense of belonging and integration I felt really shaped my amazing high school experience. The friends I made, not only scholars, but also staff, supported me and helped me to make the most of my time in high school. The pride I felt in belonging and contributing to this incredible community, will stay with me forever. My time at Penryn will truly guide me and be with me for the rest of my life.

The opportunities I was given outside of academics still excite me today. I was able to be a sportswoman, actress, public speaker and even a cheerleader when supporting the teams at Derbies! I will forever be grateful for what I learnt both in and outside the classrooms of Penryn and truly wish my time there was not finished. But I know wherever I go, the Penryn family will be behind me and always welcome me home with open arms. #PenrynPrideForever.

I am currently a Medical Doctor, doing my second year internship at Maritzburg and hopefully I will be coming back to this side of the world, back in the Lowveld.
I know Penreach well and was involved, it was lovely to see all the outreach done by me and my peers. We went into communities and saw how we could assist and make a change and for that I am grateful as it made me aware of people in need out there.

CLASS OF 2011 | HEADBOY

Penryn encouraged me to strive to be an excellent all-rounder and to give my all to everything I was involved in: be it sport, culturals, leadership or academics. It is more than just a school – it is a place where you are encouraged to try new things, work effectively in cross cultural environments, and to be an active and engaged member of society. Being a scholar at Penryn is to be a part of a wider family.

I am proud to be a Penryn Scholar because I honestly believe that we are in a league of our own, we do not fit the average mould and we are a school that celebrates diversity. I am proud because Penryn is a family. A family that allows you to grow by providing you with numerous opportunities.

School, like life, is a journey. Throughout my time at Penryn I have been on a journey and path that God has laid out for me. Penryn has not only successfully prepared me for tertiary education, but has indeed helped me develop my full potential in all aspects of my life through a holistic education. I am well on my way to becoming a well-rounded individual with a purpose, thanks to Penryn.

Penryn epitomises diversity with people from a wide range of cultures, religion and languages. Being in an environment where diversity is not only tolerated, but also encouraged, helps one to understand people from different walks of life and makes you excited to be a South African. It gives you the tools to face the world and the confidence to solve her problems. All children should have the opportunity to share this privilege!
