Penryn is an independent, co-educational, school with a link to the Methodist Church situated in a tranquil, bushveld setting between Nelspruit and White River. The vision for Penryn has always been to be a model of best practice, the beacon school, to raise the bar and to allow for access to quality education for all children. This is how Penreach came to be.


To build a beacon school, a centre of excellence from which a major education outreach programme would be developed into the surrounding disadvantaged school system.

Penryn is distinctly Lowveld – a place of beauty and hope, with magnificent views as far as the eye can see.
The campus is situated among bushveld trees, inhabited by indigenous birdlife, on Boschrand ridge overlooking Mbombela (Nelspruit) and the Crocodile River Valley in Mpumalanga, South Africa.

Penryn’s scholars are part of the Penryn family for life. It does not matter who you are or where you came from, at Penryn we have a sense of belonging that enables our scholars to find themselves.

Our scholars realise the privilege of a private school education and are taught the responsibility to give back and set an example for others. 


Our focus on developing the necessary soft skills required to thrive in this world is a critical part of our pedagogy.

Penryn is proud to be the only school in South Africa to offer falconry.

Environmental stewardship is a key part of our greater community service focus at Penryn.

Our aim is to expose our scholars to an array of sporting options and to foster a curiosity for trying out new activities.

Our dance programme is offered as an extra mural through our Culture programme at College level from Grade 8 through 12.

Music at Penryn has always been a key focus. We believe that music is an integral part of learning.

Penryn is proud to have produced some of the nations most gifted creative artists.

Speech & Drama encompasses a variety of disciplines, including the performing arts, public speaking and debating.

Parent/guardian will receive an acceptance letter and will be required to pay the once-off, non-refundable entrance fee to secure your child’s place. Note: Placement is only secure once proof of payment is received by

You may apply to Penryn at any time following the birth of your child. We accept children from age two into Grade 0000, the year they turn three, up to children turning 18 in their Grade 11 year.
