Soar on Eagles’ Wings

The Penryn College Class of 2025 was officially bid farewell at their Valediction Ceremony held on Friday morning. An occasion filled with emotion, pride and reflection. The event served not only as a celebration of academic achievement and personal growth but also as a tribute to the unity and spirit that have defined this exceptional group of scholars.


The ceremony highlighted the accomplishments of the matriculants and offered moments of both joy and nostalgia. Teachers and peers shared light hearted reflections on the unique personality of the class, while the laughter that accompanied these memories was balanced by the tears of farewell. Together, these moments captured the essence of the Penryn journey, one grounded in camaraderie, perseverance and excellence.


Adding to the significance of the morning were guest speakers and Penryn alumni, Ntsako Silinda and Matete Mabaso, who both served as Heads of School in 2021. They returned to their alma mater to share words of inspiration, urging the Class of 2025 to face the future with courage, determination and integrity. Their message resonated deeply, reinforcing the strong sense of continuity and belonging within the Penryn community.


Executive Head Mr Mike Eisen expressed immense pride in the graduating class, commending them for their contributions to the life of the school and encouraging them to carry the values of Penryn into the world beyond the classroom.


The morning also included the presentation of several prestigious awards, recognising scholars who have made outstanding contributions to the school and broader community:
•⁠ ⁠Renier’s Environmental Award: Banele Sithole for significant efforts in environmental conservation over the past three years.
•⁠ ⁠Community Service Award: Bongisipho Ngoma for dedicated service and positive impact within the surrounding community.
•⁠ ⁠The Judy Spencer Good Fellowship Award: Mieke Reingruber for promoting unity, empathy and care among peers; voted for by the Class of 2025.
•⁠ ⁠The St Stithians Commemorative Perseverance Award: Petricha Carlos for perseverance and commitment across academics, sport and fellowship.
•⁠ ⁠Enos Mabuza Character Award: Mieke Reingruber for exemplifying the true character of a Penryn scholar.
•⁠ ⁠DHR Forrester Leadership Shield: Mieke Reingruber for outstanding leadership, integrity and respect within the school community.
•⁠ ⁠The Eagle Award: Kenya Ngubane presented by the Headmaster to a scholar who strives for excellence in all aspects of school and personal life.


As the ceremony drew to a close, the mood was one of hope and pride. The graduating class leaves behind a legacy of excellence and service, ready to embrace the next stage of their journey.


In a touching final sentiment, staff and parents alike echoed the school’s prayer, that the Class of 2025 will continue to soar on eagles’ wings and not grow weary.
